• Because we find lot of themes and plugins are available. wordpress basically word press themes determines what your site looks like. you can find tons of themes and plugins for free and for small price.
• It is an open source project which means all of the codes are free for anyone to use or to contribute. There are lot of talented developers who are contributing regularly to this open source project.

HOW CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WORKS?

To understand how this CMS works. you need to know how webiste works.

• you start with HTML and CSS site and you launch it live using FTP.
• when you launch the site you need to edit the website. for editing you need FTP software to download the file to your computer edit to HTML or CSS file, save it and re upload it to the website.
• for smaller simple sites this process is fine. but when you add the dynamic content such as BLOG that will have the same content appear in multiple places.
• CMS gives you an interface between your data and the database and youself. CMS usually have very well designed app and areas that let you organize a clean modern website.
• the concept of front end and back end are necessary to understand with CMS. Front end is what your site looks like to visitors. The back end is where you edit and store all your content to  data base. 
• WordPress has an admin area or the back end looks like the same as every site you use. you dont know when you are using word press until you log in to the admin area and you can see the actual word press software that designed to manage the content.
• On the front end word press themes can make your content look just about anyway you want.
